It's moving day for a big landmark in Sarasota.
The well-known soldier kissing a nurse statue, that marks the end of World War II, called "Unconditional Surrender," is heading to New Jersey today for repairs.
The sculpture was damaged when it was hit by a car exactly a week ago.
Taking apart the 26-foot-tall statue was no easy task. The sailor and nurse weigh 12,000 pounds.
Using a crane, crews broke the statue in half and plan on putting it on two different trucks.
From Sarasota, it will go to New Jersey back to the artist who designed it for repairs.
The statue has been controversial ever since it was brought to Sarasota. But the man who bought the statue says its not going anywhere.
"I guarantee there will there's a lot of people hoping it won't be back, said Jack Curran. It's going to be back here in that same spot."
The statue should make it back to New Jersey...
